for Arnewood Parents

Sportsmark

The school has just received confirmation that we have achieved Sportsmark.  This is in recognition of the PE department providing 2 hours of high quality physical education per week.  In addition to this the award also recognises the department’s commitment to extra curricular activities; with over 60 fixtures a term and clubs and practice nights on top of that.  The school has increased the number of adults other than teachers working with the department and employed a number of different coaches to increase the opportunities for students to take part in sport and recreation.

  • The award also recognises the links made with local clubs to further develop the opportunities and levels of performance of are students.  There will be an evening to explain and promote further school club links on 28th February from 5-6pm in the Arnewood school library, for more details contact the school sports coordinator; Sarah Conacher on 01425 625400.
  • The award also recognises the opportunities and provision made for leadership and with Arnewood in its second year of the Sports Leaders Level One Award its proving more popular than ever.
  • Finally the award recognises the work undertaken with the local primary schools in the Arnewood family, and in recognition of their improvement, they have all been awarded active mark.  The Arnewood Sixth Form, currently undertaking the Community sports leaders award, are delivering a programme that is designed to engage primary school children in a fun challenging environment where all students are involved in learning.
