Black Death Miniprojects
Medieval Europe was struck by a terrible epidemic of bubonic plague during the fourteenth century. Over 35 per cent of population died as a result of the Black Death. Click here to see a powerpoint of the Black Death.
Patients would suffer a range of terrible symptoms starting with a flu-like illness, and moving onto blotches and buboes (lumps under the arms, on the neck and groin) and spasms before the body finally gave up the ghost and died. These days we understand that the disease is spread by germs and can be treated using antibiotic drugs. However during the medieval period, people lived in fear as they didn't understand what was happening.
